Maruti Suzuki Launches New-Gen Dzire with 5-Star Safety Rating – Features, Pricing & More
Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the much-anticipated new-generation Dzire, marking a significant upgrade from its previous model. This revamped sedan not only boasts a fresh design but is also the first car from Maruti to earn a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. The Dzire LXI Petrol MT, which is the base variant, comes at an ex-showroom price of ₹6.79 lakh and is now available at dealerships. If you’re planning to buy this model, here’s a detailed look at the features that make it stand out despite being a base variant.
Exterior Features of Dzire LXI Petrol MT
The new Dzire LXI Petrol MT comes equipped with several practical exterior features. The car features remote locking and projector headlamps with halogen lighting units. However, fog lamps are not included in this variant. The front grille, side window line, and rear tailgate sport unpainted plastic instead of chrome elements found in higher trims. Similarly, the ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors) and door handles are also unpainted. The side turn indicators are positioned on the fender rather than the ORVMs, adding to the simplicity of the design.
While the car lacks chrome accents, it still features LED tail lamps with a smoked effect cover, matching the higher variants. A rear defogger comes as standard, and the model also includes a shark-fin antenna and a boot lip spoiler. The 14-inch steel wheels on this variant give the car a robust yet basic look.
Interior Features of Dzire LXI Petrol MT
Inside, the Dzire LXI Petrol MT offers a straightforward yet comfortable setup. Although the driver’s seat is not adjustable, the cabin features a clean design with manual climate control that mimics an automatic system for a premium feel. The car doesn’t come with a music system, and there are no steering wheel controls, keeping the focus on essential features.
Despite being the base model, safety is a major highlight, with six airbags and a 5-star crash safety rating as standard. The interior lighting is simple, with one common light source for both rows of seats. The semi-digital instrument cluster with a Multi-Information Display (MID) provides essential driving information. There’s no dedicated AC vent for the second row or a cooled glovebox, and the interior lacks electrically adjustable ORVMs. The rearview mirror is a basic unit and doesn’t offer automatic dimming.
Engine & Performance of Dzire LXI Petrol MT
The Dzire LXI Petrol MT comes with a new 1.2L 3-cylinder normal petrol engine, generating 82 PS of power at 5700 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 4300 rpm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, with an optional 5-speed AMT automatic transmission. The new engine promises impressive fuel efficiency, offering 24.79 kmpl with the manual transmission and 25.71 kmpl with the automatic transmission, making it an economical choice for daily commuters.
With these enhancements, the new Dzire LXI Petrol MT aims to cater to buyers looking for a reliable, fuel-efficient, and safe sedan at an attractive price point.
