Season 2 of One Piece Live Action is on its way!
One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda delivered this happy news in an official tweet from the Netflix account. Oda indicates that Netflix has renewed One Piece for Season 2 using a Den Den Mushi (aka Transponder Snail).
“Thank you to everyone who has been a fan of One Piece for years, as well as those who have discovered One Piece for the first time. I recently got some exciting news two weeks after the launch…”Netflix has decided to renew the show,” Oda sensei said in his message. You may see the whole video message right here:
As predicted, Netflix and Tomorrow Studios want to continue telling the live-action narrative of Monkey D. Luffy (Iaki Godoy), who aspires to become the Pirate King and locate the One Piece treasure. He has already located the first six Straw Hat Pirates and is now on his way to the Grand Line, where he will need to hire a doctor for the crew, as Oda sensei has mentioned.
Manga and anime aficionados already know what’s next, but for those who are new to the story, Tony Tony Chopper will be presented in One Piece Live Action Season 2. Oda sensei sketched him in the tweet’s video message. Keep an eye out for more of Baroque Works (teased in season 1, see easter eggs here) and what happens next.
In the Netflix tweet, Oda also adds that the team will need some time to perfect the screenplays before they can begin production. We haven’t heard any specific release dates for Season 2, but based on previous statements from Tomorrow Studios executives, we may anticipate the One Piece Live Action series to return in around 18 months.
