KBS2 in South Korea has revealed the debut date for The Matchmaker, a historical love K-drama starring Rowoon and Cho Yi-hyun.
Rowoon will play Shim Jung-woo, a talented scholar whose life is turned upside down after the unexpected death of his bride, in The Matchmaker, set during the Joseon era. Cho Yi-hyun (All of Us Are Dead) will play the city’s greatest matchmaker alongside the former SF9 member.
Park Ji-young (Revenant) will play the strong Mrs Park, and Jo Han-chul (Reborn Rich) will play a King who desires to marry off Dr Maeng’s children. Meanwhile, Jung Shin-hye (My Perfect Stranger) and Park Ji-won (Let Me Be Your Knight) will play the aforementioned daughters.
“The Matchmaker will greet viewers with easy laughter that people of all ages and genders can enjoy,” the K-drama’s production team said in a statement, as translated by Soompi. “[It’s a] one-of-a-kind historical rom-com hat that will turn the chill of late autumn into heart-fluttering excitement.”
KBS has also shared a new still from The Matchmaker’s first script reading. The network also confirmed in its post that the new K-drama will launch on October 30 at 9:45 p.m. KST.
Rowoon is now starring opposite Jo Bo-ah in the JTBC fantasy romance serial Destined With You. In addition, the actor had a cameo appearance in the Netflix K-drama series A Time Called You.
Rowoon revealed earlier this week that he will be leaving his post as a member of SF9 to pursue his acting career. Youngbin, the boyband’s leader, has since spoken out about how “conflicted” he is about Rowoon’s departure from the group.
