10 Dead, 7 Injured as Gunmen Open Fire at Bar in Mexico’s Historic Queretaro
Gunmen Open Fire at Bar: In a shocking act of violence, gunmen stormed a bar in Queretaro, a city known for its relative peace, killing 10 people and injuring seven others. The attack took place on Saturday night inside the Los Cantaritos bar, located in Queretaro’s historic district. According to Juan Luis Ferrusca, the head of Queretaro’s public security department, the gunmen arrived in a pickup truck, armed with long weapons.
Ferrusca reported that emergency responders were on the scene shortly after the attack, where they found 10 deceased victims and seven individuals suffering from gunshot injuries. In a video shared on social media, Ferrusca explained that the attackers opened fire indiscriminately within the crowded bar.
As authorities investigate, one suspect has been detained in connection with the shooting, and the vehicle used by the attackers was discovered abandoned and set ablaze shortly after the assault.
Queretaro, often considered one of Mexico’s safer urban areas, has been largely spared from the high levels of violence common in other parts of the country, where drug cartels and gang-related conflicts have claimed over 450,000 lives since 2006. This violent incident has left residents of Queretaro and the nation in shock, as authorities work to understand the motive and connections behind the brutal attack.
