Father Accused of Murdering Sara Sharif Blames Stepmother for Death: Shocking Testimony at Trial
Father Accused of Murdering Sara Sharif: The father of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, a British-Pakistani girl found dead in her bed in Woking, England, on August 10, 2023, has denied charges of murder, instead blaming his wife, Beinash Batool, for the girl’s tragic death. In a tense court appearance, Urfan Sharif, 42, called his wife “evil” and “psycho,” insisting that she was the one responsible for Sara’s brutal injuries, including broken bones, burns, and bite marks.
Sara was discovered with horrific injuries, leading to a murder investigation. Her father, along with Beinash Batool, 30, and the girl’s uncle, Faisal Malik, 29, fled to Pakistan the day before the discovery. Sharif later contacted UK authorities from Islamabad, admitting to having “beaten her up too much,” but later claimed he fabricated this confession to protect his family.
During his trial at London’s Old Bailey, Sharif denied causing Sara’s injuries, stating that he had slapped her “multiple times” but denied ever burning or biting her. He blamed Beinash Batool for the abuse, claiming that she would accuse Sara of misbehaving and force him to slap her.
Sharif’s emotional outbursts in court included pointing to his wife and calling her manipulative and “psycho,” and suggesting that she was the one who bit Sara “like an animal.” Sharif also referenced a disturbing incident where he found Sara’s hands tied behind her back with packaging tape, accusing Batool of the act.
Forensic evidence presented at the trial revealed that a plastic bag and tape found at the scene contained traces of Sara’s DNA and Sharif’s fingerprints, leading to questions about his involvement in the crime. Despite this, Sharif denied any wrongdoing, explaining that the fingerprints could be from handling the items while sorting garbage.
Sharif’s defense also pointed to text messages from 2022 in which Batool had allegedly discussed using makeup to cover Sara’s bruises, further painting a picture of domestic abuse within the family. In the days leading up to her death, Sara had reportedly asked her father not to go to work, hinting at possible distress in the household.
The trial continues as more details emerge about the tragic events leading up to Sara Sharif’s death, with both Sharif and Batool denying charges of murder and child neglect.
