Joe Rogan’s new Netflix program includes anti-vaccine gags and mocks trans people 2024 news
Joe Rogan’s first stand-up special in six years premiered live on Netflix overnight (4 August), with the comedian and podcaster taking aim at Covid vaccinations, trans people, and homosexual guys.
In the show, dubbed Burn the Boats, the 56-year-old joked about his reputation for spreading falsehoods. “That might be misinformation,” he replied after one of the jokes. “Don’t say you heard it from me, because I am known for that s***.”
Speaking about the epidemic early in the program, he stated, “Before Covid, I would have told you that vaccines are the most important invention in human history.”
“After Covid, I was like, ‘I don’t believe we got to the moon. I think Michelle Obama has a d***. I believe Pizzagate is true. I suspect there are direct energy weapons in Antarctica.
“I’m just kidding – I don’t think Michelle Obama’s got a d***, but I believe all of that other s***.”
Turning his attention to the trans community, he made repeated jokes about “pregnant men” before arguing that the United States has been overly welcoming of trans individuals.
“I’m open-minded,” he explained. “I really want to know what occurred. It’s almost as if a perverted magician cast a magic spell over the entire universe.
“With a wave of this wand, you may enter the women’s locker room with a hard c***, and anyone who complains is a Nazi. Abracadabra!’
And it just works! And everyone simply accepts this new reality, which is fucking bizarre. I just think we need standards. You can’t just put on lipstick and then s*** in the women’s restroom!”
Later in the presentation, he made nasty remarks about homosexual males, claiming that he does not “want to be surrounded by them”.
Burn the Boats was recorded live at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio.
Joe Rogan’s most recent stand-up special, Strange Times, was released in 2018. This is his third Netflix project, following 2016’s Triggered.
The comedian has been entangled in a number of disputes in recent years for disseminating conspiracy theories via his podcast.
Spotify faced intense pressure in 2022 to eliminate Joe Rogan due to his anti-coronavirus vaccination statements and use of racist slurs, with some musicians, including Neil Young, withdrawing their music from the site in protest.
Joe Rogan’s special is the latest in a string of controversial Netflix shows. Previous presentations by Dave Chappelle and Ricky Gervais have received much criticism for their jokes regarding transgender persons.
