One week after Storm Daniel struck northern Libya, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated on Saturday that at least 11,300 people had perished and another 10,100 are still missing from the coastal city of Derna.
According to the UN study, which used the most recent statistics from the International Organization for Migration, over 40,000 people have been displaced and an estimated 170 people have died as a consequence of the floods in other parts of the country. As search-and-rescue operations continue to seek for survivors, numbers are anticipated to increase.
