‘Should be hanged,’ says the father of a rape suspect in Ujjain.

On Thursday, Bharat Soni was arrested for allegedly raping the girl after CCTV footage showed him interacting with her near Ujjain railway station.

After the Madhya Pradesh Police arrested an autorickshaw driver, Bharat Soni, for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl in Ujjain district, his father, Raju Soni, demanded harsh punishment for him on Thursday. Soni believes that those who commit such heinous crimes should be “shot” by the police.

We are unable to recover from our humiliation. How should I proceed? Nothing makes sense to me. That young lady could have been my child…If I were in his position, I would have admitted my guilt and died as a result,” the accused’s father told India Today.

“Those who commit such crimes do not deserve to live,” he added. Anyone who commits such a crime, whether it is my child or someone else’s, should be hanged or shot.”

The accused’s father also told the media that he was aware of the incident and had discussed it with his son. According to him, the accused acted as if nothing had happened, remained silent, and went about his daily business.

Bharat Soni was arrested on Thursday after CCTV footage of him interacting with her near Ujjain railway station surfaced. Rakesh Malviya, another autorickshaw driver, was also arrested for attempting to destroy evidence.

“We identified the girl against whom a missing complaint was filed on Monday in Jaitwara police station and informed Ujjain police after seeing the viral videos.” Shivesh Singh Baghel, additional superintendent of police in Satna, confirmed the minor’s identity.

The shocking incident occurred on September 25 when the girl was discovered bleeding on a road in the Mahakal police station limits of Ujjain. She was rushed to the hospital, where a medical examination revealed that she had been raped.

The girl is being treated in a hospital right now.

According to a member of the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), the victim’s condition has been improving; however, recovery from the mental trauma may take a long time.
