Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel has been appointed as the new Assistant and Batting Coach for Gujarat Titans ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The franchise made the official announcement, adding that Patel’s wealth of experience and knowledge from his 17-year long cricketing career will be an invaluable asset to the team.
Parthiv Patel’s Impressive IPL Journey
Parthiv Patel, who has played for several IPL franchises, including Chennai Super Kings, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians, has extensive experience in the tournament. After making his IPL debut in 2008, Patel remained a key figure in the league, known for his wicketkeeping skills and solid batting technique.
In 2022, he was selected by Gujarat Giants for the Legends League Cricket, and he captained the side in the 2023 season, further honing his leadership and tactical abilities. Patel’s diverse experiences across different franchises have provided him with a deep understanding of the IPL’s dynamics, which will now benefit Gujarat Titans as they look to strengthen their team ahead of the 2025 season.

Patel has represented India in 25 Test matches, 38 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 2 T20 Internationals, accumulating 934 runs in Tests, 736 in ODIs, and 36 in T20Is. While he never scored an international century, Patel made significant contributions with the bat, scoring six half-centuries in Tests and four in ODIs. His last international appearance was in 2018.
