Number of daily trains between Oslo and Gothenburg to double
The number of daily train departures between the Norwegian capital of Oslo and the Swedish city of Gothenburg will double this winter, rail company Vy announced Thursday
According to the Norwegian government-owned rail firm Vy, there will be twice as many daily train trips between Gothenburg and Oslo starting on December 10.
“We have a lot of confidence in this segment, which serves as a crucial transportation route between Sweden and Norway. Not least of all, it serves as a departure point for several trains that go deeper into Europe, according to Erik Rhne, executive director of Vy.
“With this increase, the offer between Oslo and Gothenburg will be significantly improved,” he said.
There will be six weekend trips and seven weekday departures from Oslo to Gothenburg.
At 6:11, 8:14, 10:14, 12:14, 2:14, 3:47, and 6:10 a.m., departures from Oslo will depart from the central station.
Services will leave on Saturdays and Sundays at 8:14, 10:14, 12:14, 2:14, 4:16, and 6:10 a.m. Three and a half hours are needed to go by rail from Oslo to Gothenburg.
On weekdays, Vy plans to run eight daily trains from Gothenburg to Oslo, seven on Saturdays, and six on Sundays.
From Monday through Friday, departures leave Gothenburg Central Station at 6:08, 8:10, 10:15, 12:15, 2:15, 4:08, 6:08, and 8:10 a.m.
The planned departure times on Saturdays are 8:10am, 10:15am, 12:15pm, 2:15pm, 4:08pm, 6:08pm, and 8:10pm from London to Oslo. There won’t be an 8:10pm departure for the Sunday services, but they will depart at the same times.
Tickets are made available by Vy 90 days before to the departure date, thus they are already available for the first services included in the revised itinerary.
