Jet2 Announces New Base at London Luton Airport, Expanding to 17 European Destinations

Jet2 Announces New Base at London: Jet2 has revealed that it will be opening a new base at London Luton Airport, marking a major expansion for the airline and its operations in the south of England. Starting next summer, Jet2 will offer flights to 17 popular destinations across Europe and the Mediterranean, including sought-after spots in the Canary Islands.

The move is expected to create 125 new jobs initially, boosting the local economy and supporting the airport’s continued growth. Luton Airport, which welcomed over 16.2 million passengers in 2023, already hosts major airlines like easyJet, Wizz Air, Ryanair, and TUI, and the addition of Jet2 strengthens its position as a key hub for both leisure and business travel.

Jet2’s chief executive, Steve Heapy, expressed excitement about the decision, stating that customers and travel agents had long been asking for services at London Luton. The airport’s chief executive, Alberto Martin, also welcomed the news, calling it a significant milestone for the airline’s south of England expansion.

Hazel Simmons, the Labour leader of Luton Borough Council, highlighted the positive impact the new base will have on local jobs and the wider economy. This expansion is set to enhance travel options for millions while contributing to the region’s ongoing economic success.
