S Jaishankar Meets Australian PM Albanese: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is currently on an official visit to Australia, where he is working to strengthen the India-Australia bilateral relationship. During his trip from November 3-7, Jaishankar met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in Canberra, discussing ways to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
In his meeting with Prime Minister Albanese, Jaishankar conveyed the warm greetings of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On social media, Jaishankar expressed his delight in meeting with the Australian leader and valued Albanese’s guidance in further enhancing the bilateral ties. “Delighted to call on PM Anthony Albanese in Canberra today. Conveyed warm greetings of PM @narendramodi. Value his guidance for deepening India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” Jaishankar shared on X.
Jaishankar’s engagements in Australia have also included important meetings with other key political figures. He met Peter Dutton, the leader of the Liberal Party of Australia, where they exchanged perspectives on global issues and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening India-Australia relations. “Shared perspectives on global issues and appreciate his support for our bilateral ties,” Jaishankar tweeted.
In addition, the Indian minister met with New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters. They discussed a range of issues, including education, technology, agriculture, and people-to-people ties. The meeting also covered important regional matters, particularly the Indo-Pacific, along with broader global concerns.
Jaishankar’s visit also saw him engaging with UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, highlighting the growing strategic cooperation between India and the United Arab Emirates. Jaishankar expressed his warmth toward the UAE leader, saying, “So nice to meet my friend DPM & FM @ABZayed of UAE in Canberra today.”
Jaishankar’s diplomatic engagements underscore the importance of strengthening ties between India, Australia, and other international partners, especially in areas of mutual interest such as trade, technology, and regional security.
